Making Money By Being a Great Speaker:
I hate to burst your bubble, but this is a no-nonsense blog - being a great speaker is no guarantee of making money.
But, this is the fallacy that many speakers get caught up in, and to their financial detriment.
They go out and print up promotional packages that cost thousands of dollars, then go out begging for a speaking engagement. And, they want to be paid for it.
They want to be paid to tell their inspiring story. The problem? This is a strategy that works for all but a very few. If you're Michael Jordan, you can command big money by speaking - but it's not because people really want to hear his empowering message, it's because they want to be able to say they saw the great Michael Jordon in person.
Unless you're a celebrity, you can forget about big paydays, just to show up and tell your story.
Even worse, just because you gain some kind of certification as a "speaking pro", no one gives a rats ass about that.
What do they care about? Tune in tomorrow, and I'll tell you.
