Learning From Others' Speaking & Seminar Successes

Learning From Others' Speaking & Seminar Successes:

One of the things I love hearing is my students' success stories, and it recently occurred to me that that could actually be valuable to YOU even more than to me.

Let's face it - it's encouraging when we hear that someone else is succeeding at something we want to be able to do, it makes us think "hey, if they can succeed at public speaking / seminars, then I can too!"

So I want to encourage all of you to begin to post on this blog what's working for you and what's not working for you in seminars and public speaking so that other people can benefit and learn from that.

What are your successes, your frustrations? What do you wish you could know more about or do better? Post your questions, your concerns, your fears, your achievements, your successes, your strategies... everyone here will benefit and we can all help each other.

Naturally, I'll be glad to offer my 2 cents along the way and I'll endeavor to be as helpful as possible.

Public Speaking - The Critical First 5 Minutes

Public Speaking - The Critical First 5 Minutes:

In your public speaking and seminars, the first 5 minutes are make-or-break for 3 important reasons:

1. You MUST grab the audience's attention right off the bat and make them say to themselves, "wow, I can't wait to hear what this guy's (or gal) has to say.

2. You must MUST establish your authority and credibility right away or your risk them not believing a word you say.

3. You MUST have the first 5 minutes of your presentation "down cold" because that way you'll easily slide through any remaining jitters or stage fright you have lingering.

Presentation Skills and "Electability"

Presentation Skills and "Electability":

Any election race is a great study in public speaking and presentation skills.

But the national focus on the presidential campaign makes for an especially good opportunity to better understand how to shape people's perceptions with presentation skills.

The word "electability" shows up multiple times in a search on CNN.com, but does not survive a spell check in Microsoft programs, but does show up in a search on dictionary.com.

How do we gauge "electability", a candidates chance of winning? Sure there are actual facts of super delegates and campaign money that come into play in the race between Obama and Clinton for the Democratic front-runner, but when we're down to choosing between Obama and McCain (which it looks more and more like it'll be those two vying for the presidency) how will we THEN determine electability?

That's right - it'll be based on a gut-feel we have based on how they present themselves in public - that's called public speaking and presentation skills.

If YOU want to "win" whatever race you're running, you'll need to have "electability" too, and that comes from having good public speaking and presentation skills, which of course we teach here at the American Seminar Academy, and you can get our free report "7 Secrets of Master Communicators" right now to get you more "electable" starting right now.

Attention Speakers: Why Aren't You Profiting From Your Own Seminars?

Attention Speakers: Why Aren't You Profiting From Your Own Seminars?
Those of you who consider yourself speakers come from all walks of the business world.

Some of you are looking to tell your story and spread your message. Others of you are looking to market your business.

And ALL of you have been asking me how to get speaking gigs, but you're missing out on the easiest gig of all: doing your own seminars.

Promoting and delivering your own seminars is not rocket science, but there are a ton of important - even critical - details you have to get right or else you'll overpay for your seminar room, overpay for your promotion and marketing, and you'll ruin your seminar results from lack of knowing how to squeeze the profits from seminars.

Of course, in my "Quick Start Seminar Success System" I take you by the hand and guide you step by step so you don't miss any crucial details.

The biggest mistake that public speakers make is focusing on how they'll say words, and how to find meeting planners or corporate speaking gigs and they practically go out begging for speaking gigs.

I'm not saying you should stop looking for speaking opportunities, in fact I highly suggest you find GOOD speaking gigs - but don't leave a ton of money lying on the table, start doing your own seminars and you'll create another income stream.... and you don't even have to travel.
